Wellness and Preventive Medicine

From the moment you bring your new puppy or kitten home to well into their senior years, having a trustworthy source for the care and welfare of your pet is paramount. We offer our services to all stages of your pet’s life, providing compassionate and competent care.

Dentistry

With the use of dental radiography and modern equipment, we are able to identify and treat dental pathology above and beneath the gum-line. We are capable of removing most oral tumors. Dental cleanings are offered both with and without dental radiography.

General Surgery

We strive to offer as many general surgical procedures as a convenience to our clients. These include spay/neuter, bladder stone removal, splenectomy, foreign body removal, mass removal, laceration repair, etc. Depending upon the complexity of the surgery, your pet may be referred to an outside consultation by a board-certified veterinary surgeon.

All of our surgical patients are monitored continually during surgery. Parameters monitored in our patients include: heart rate, oxygen saturation, ECG, end-tidal CO2 concentration, respiration rate, blood pressure, and temperature. All anesthetic plans are designed and implemented by our veterinarians.

Orthopaedic Surgery

With nearly 30 years of experience and passion, Dr. Edward A Shelly has diagnosed the need for and preformed orthopaedic surgery on both dogs and cats. In most cases we are able to address your pets orthopaedic needs and right them onto the path to a full return of function. A series of cold laser therapy is included free of charge in all of our orthopaedic cases post-surgically.

Laser Therapy

We are pleased to offer cold laser therapy to our patients for a variety of conditions. This treatment modality utilizes light to stimulate tissue proliferation and blood circulation to the target site. Benefits may include decreased recovery time, reduction in pain, and quicker return to function.

Opthalmology

We are capable of preforming all basic components of a full ophthalmology exam including retinal examination, fluoroscein staining, eye pressure measurement via TONOvet, and tear production measurement. Surgically, we offer eye enucleation, corrective entropian surgery, eye laceration repair, and eyelid mass removal.

Laboratory Testing

We are able to offer in-house tests of blood and urine to identify disease and begin proper treatment for your pet immediately. Specialized testing is available overnight with our out-of-house laboratory service.

Radiology

With modern digital X-ray capabilities, we can quickly image and diagnose an array of diseases right within the confines of our hospital. Additionally, via telemedicine, we have access to board certified radiologists to review your pet’s radiographs. Basic ultrasonography is also available both in hospital and via local practitioners we partner with. We also offer our radiology services for OFA certification, including hips, elbows, and knees.

Theriogenology

With great pride, we have had the wonderful opportunity to work with excellent local breeders with strong pedigrees and show records. From hormonal testing, breeding soundness exams, artificial insemination, and cesarean-section to the early stages of your litter’s life, we are happy to offer our expertise to breeders of all scales and experience.

Parasite Preventatives

Seresto collars, frontline, and advantage II are both available over the counter without the need for your pet to be seen by our staff. Otherwise, we carry most prescription flea & tick, and heartworm preventatives. We are happy to offer our recommendations for your pet.

Pharmacy and Food

Should your pet need medication to go home, we stock a full pharmacy of medication and also work with local and national compounding pharmacies to make sure your pet is receiving the proper medications at the most reasonable price. Additionally, we stock both Hill’s and Royal Canin prescription pet foods. Through Hill’s home delivery service, we can offer the convenience of direct to door shipping.
